AceShowbiz - Eddie Montgomery shared a heartbreaking news about his family. The Montgomery Gentry singer's 19-year-old son Hunter died in an accident on Sunday, September 27.

"My son Hunter went to heaven today," Montgomery said in a statement. "I appreciate all your prayers and love and thank you for giving us privacy as we grieve and say goodbye." A statement on the duo's Facebook page said the death came following an accident that left Hunter on life support at a Kentucky hospital.

"Unfortunately, we have to fill you in on more heartbreaking news this morning from the Montgomery Gentry family. Our sincerest love, thoughts and prayers are with Eddie and his family today," the band wrote on Facebook. Funeral arrangements are pending, the statement said.

Hunter's death came following a string of bad news from the band. In 2010, Montgomery revealed he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. In 2014, he filed bankruptcy after a failed restaurant venture and divorce.
