Nickelodeon Officially Announces '90s TV Programming Block 'The Splat'

'The Splat' will broadcast an eight-hour nightly programming block on Teen Nick which will include shows like 'Kenan & Kel', 'Rugrats' and 'Hey Arnold!'.

AceShowbiz - After much speculations, Nickelodeon has announced its TV programming block titled "The Splat". The network said in its press release, "Nickelodeon will throw back to the '90s every day with the launch of 'The Splat', a new multiscreen content destination spanning television, seven social media platforms, and a dedicated website aggregating the most loved Nick content from the 1990s and beyond."

"The Splat" will broadcast an eight-hour nightly programming block on Teen Nick which will include shows like "All That", "Are You Afraid of the Dark", "Kenan & Kel", "Rocko's Modern Life", "Rugrats", "Salute Your Shorts" and "The Wild Thornberrys". Viewers also can watch old programming stunts like "Super Toy Run", "Doo-Wop Dinosaurs" and "Opera Lady". The programming will appear starting on October 5 from 10:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.

There will also be specials airing on October 12 including "Rugrats Reptar Takeover", which will feature the best Reptar-themed "Rugrats" episodes. On October 19, viewers can watch "Hey Arnold! Live from the Stoop" which will feature stoop-centric episodes of the show centering on the football head character.

Nickelodeon will also have a fan-driven website TheSplat.com, an emoji keyboard with custom '90s emojis, stickers, GIFs, and a big social media presence for fans to get involved.

Cyma Zarghami, president of Viacom Kids and Family Group, said in a statement, "We have been listening closely to our first generation of Nick kids that are craving the great characters and shows they grew up with watching Nickelodeon in the '90s. We designed 'The Splat' with fans and their requests in mind, which means we're bringing together these beloved series and a high level of digital engagement to give fans a retro media experience they can't get anywhere else."
