Acquiring the script of Christmas movie "Humbug", Universal Pictures has tapped Ice Cube to star in. A contemporary retelling of the Charles Dickens' tale "A Christmas Carol", the film will see the rapper and actor taking on the role of Ebeneezer Scrooge.

In the modern version, Cube's character is described as "a wealthy real estate mogul shown a path to redemption by the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future", Deadline reported. In addition to star in, Cube will be producing alongside Jeff Kwatinetz. Tim Story, meanwhile, has been attached to direct.

Aside from Cube, other cast to star in "Humbug" have not yet been named. Shooting and release dates also haven't been set.

Cube and Story have worked together on some projects, naming some were the first "Barbershop" and "Ride Along". As for Cube, he has just produced the hit film "Straight Outta Compton" and is about to start filming the New Line comedy "Fist Fight".
