Shawn Mendes' latest cover doesn't only delight his own fans, but also millions of Directioners out there. The Canadian teen sent the internet into a frenzy on Wednesday, August 12 when he shared a YouTube video of him delivering a beautiful, stripped-down version of One Direction's new single "Drag Me Down".
The nearly-three-minute clip is pretty simple. Shot in black and white, it features Mendes in a black button down shirt sitting alone in front of the camera as he shows off his signature pipes while playing his acoustic guitar.
"Drag Me Down" is the lead cut off One Direction's upcoming fifth album. The song has shattered iTunes and Spotify records. It recently opened at No. 3 on Billboard Hot 100, marking the highest debut on the chart in 2015.
Mendes is no stranger to covering other artists' songs. Before he's signed to major label and dropped his own album earlier this year, he used to post his covers on Vine. The 17-year-old heartthrob is currently promoting his music by hitting the road with Taylor Swift, serving as an opening act on her "1989" tour.
