AceShowbiz - "Deadliest Catch" is mourning the loss of one of its members, Tony Lara. The Discovery Channel star was found dead in a private home in Sturgis, South Dakota on Saturday morning, August 8. He was 50 years old.
"Yesterday we lost a member of the Catch Family. May you RIP Captain Tony Lara!" the show broke the news on Twitter. A representative for the Discovery Channel added, "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time."
Tony Lara appeared on "Deadliest Catch" as the captain of the Cornelia Marie boat. He was in South Dakota over the weekend for its annual motorcycle rally. The cause of his death hasn't been revealed pending autopsy results.
Casey McManus, the current captain of the Cornelia Marie, tweeted in the wake of Lara's death, "Still in shock over losing Capt #TonyLara @alaskatuff #RIP my friend You had a heart of gold #CorneliaMarie #DeadliestCatch @DeadliestCatch."
