The first trailer for Angelina Jolie's latest directorial project "By the Sea" has landed online for viewing pleasure. The "Maleficent" actress plays Vanessa, a wife to an American writer played by her real-life husband Brad Pitt.
As Harry Nilsson's "Perfect Day" plays, footage that shows their marriage falling apart is shown. There are crying, kicking, yelling, and slapping. At one point, Vanessa is seen crumbling on the floor while her husband walks out the door.
The film follows the write and his wife as they arrive in a tranquil and picturesque seaside resort in 1970s France. As they spend time with fellow travelers, including young newlyweds and village locals, the couple begins to come to terms with unresolved issues in their own lives.
"It was hardest [when] I was directing our fight scenes," Jolie said. The drama will arrive in North American theaters on November 13.
