Pez candy is getting a big-screen treatment. Envision Media Arts announces they are developing an animated movie based on the small brick-shaped candy and their pocket dispensers, which usually feature pop culture characters.
The movie is written by Cameron Fay ("Brother in Law"). "Pez candy is beloved by children and adults alike, with Cameron Fay we've created a world unique to Pez and a story that will touch the hearts of many," EMA CEO and founder Nelson said.
This isn't the first film about "Pez". Back in 2006, a documentary about people who collect the dispensers was released.
The untitled Pez movie join a series of toy-themed flicks in Hollywood. After "The Lego Movie" became an instant hit, "Pixels" which included the famous video game character PacMan was released this year. "Minecraft", "Play-Doh", and "Emoji" are going to follow next.
