"Sean Malone succumbed to his injuries this evening surrounded by his son Sean, parents and siblings at Boston Medical Center," Boston Fire Department broke the sad news late Wednesday night on Twitter.

Malone was saved by an off-duty firefighter Chris Flaherty on July 20 and taken to shore with the help from teens in a speedboat. He was taken to hospital in critical condition and had been in coma until his death. He is the brother of Deputy Fire Chief Scott Malone of the Boston Fire Department.
