WWE Superstar Adam Copeland has been cast as the comic book character on 'Flash' season 2, while the 'Veronica Mars' alum will recur as Detective Will Kinney on 'Originals' season 3.

AceShowbiz - "The Flash" will feature another comic book character in its upcoming season 2. The show has reportedly tapped WWE star Adam "The Edge" Copeland to appear as Atom-Smasher in the upcoming second season of the TV series.

According to ComicBook.com which first reported the news, Atom-Smasher is "one of the most powerful enemies we encounter this season." He comes to Central City to kill The Flash. "His incredible strength and ability to grow to enormous size makes him more than a match for Flash and the entire S.T.A.R. Labs team will have to come together to find a way to defeat him." This is clearly a twist of the comic book's version of the character in which he's originally depicted as a hero.

The wrestler will make his debut on the show in the season premiere. He joins previously announced new additions for season 2, including Teddy Sears who will play Jay Garrick, Shantel VanSanten who is cast as Barry Allen's new love interest Patty Spivot, and Michael Ironside who will play Captain Cold's father Lewis Snart.

Another The CW series "The Originals" is also adding an actor to its cast line-up. Former "Veronica Mars" star Jason Dohring has landed a recurring role as Detective Will Kinney in forthcoming season 3 of "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off.

The Hollywood Reporter describes the character "as smart and confident with a very clear sense of right and wrong, who is out to bring the forces of evil to justice. And while Kinney doesn't know exactly what's going on in New Orleans, he has a strong suspicion that something strange is happening beneath the surface of the city." He will first appear in the third season opener.

"The Flash" season 2 kicks off Tuesday, October 6 at 8 P.M., while "The Originals" returns Thursday, October 8 at 9 P.M. on The CW.
