The 'X-Men: First Class' director confirms that 'Kingsman: The Secret Service' sequel is in the works, teasing that he may direct the movie.

AceShowbiz - Grossing over $400 million worldwide on an $81 million budget, "Kingsman: The Secret Service" seems to be a smash hit this year. Thus, making a sequel is a no-brainer and director Matthew Vaughn has confirmed that "Kingsman: The Secret Service 2" is in the works.

Speaking to Yahoo, the director explained the plan for the sequel. "Well, the good news is that I'm writing it next door at the moment. If I think I can get the script good enough, then we are making it. We are doing our damndest to make that happen," he said.

Thus far in his career, Vaughn has been rarely interested to work on follow-ups to his own movies. "I have to feel inspired and that I'm doing something different, and pushing my boundaries. Sequels normally you're doing more of the same. I'm trying to reinvent how to do a sequel at the moment, and it's tough," said Vaughn, explaining why he had stayed away from follow-ups to his movies.

In the interview, he suggested that he might also direct the follow-up movie. "I'm in love with these characters, and I want to work with them again, so I'll probably be breaking the rule of tending not to make sequels," he coyly said. However, Vaughn has not yet confirmed that he would direct the project.

Moreover, the writer-director hinted that the proposed sequel would feature American agents, but he remained mum on who would play the American agents. "All I can say is that you'll find out in two years in the sequel. I'm not going to give it away now. So stay tuned," he said.

"Kingsman: The Secret Service" is based on Icon Comics' comic book entitled "The Secret Service", written by Mark Millar. The film centered on Eggsy's (Taron Egerton) origin and journey to becoming a Kingsman.
