Jake Gyllenhaal Fights for Redemption in 'Southpaw' New Trailer

Billy Hope (Gyllenhaal) is a boxer who wants to reclaim his past glory after his life is ruined by a tragic accident.

AceShowbiz - A new trailer for Antoine Fuqua's "Southpaw" has arrived. The film stars %cJake Gyllenhaal% as Billy Hope, a famous boxer who lives a perfect life before a deadly accident leaves him in despair.

The trailer opens with Hope as a heavyweight world champion after he defeats his enemy in a boxing ring. Hope has a good career and he lives everyone's dream before the murder of his loving wife (%cRachel McAdams%) shatters his life.

Trying to reclaim his life, Hope comes to Tick Willis (%cForest Whitaker%), a retired fighter and trainer to the city's toughest amateur boxers. With his future riding on Tick's guidance and tenacity, Hope enters the hardest battle of his life as he struggles with redemption and to win back the trust of those he loves.

%cEminem% was originally going to star as Hope before Gyllenhaal ended up taking the role. In the upcoming movie, Gyllenhaal is joined by the likes of %cNaomie Harris%, %cOona Laurence%, %cMiguel Gomez%, %c50 Cent%, %cVictor Ortiz%, %cMalcolm M. Mays% and %cBeau Knapp%. Todd Black produces the movie alongside Jason Blumenthal, Alan Riche and Peter Riche while the script is written by Kurt Sutter ("Sons of Anarchy") and Richard Wenk ("The Mechanic"). The movie is slated to be released in U.S. theaters on July 24.
