'Project Almanac' Director Dean Israelite to Helm 'Power Rangers'
Movie

Dean Israelite hopes to 'bring a fresh voice to the property' in the upcoming adaptation of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

AceShowbiz - Dean Israelite is on board "Power Rangers". The "Project Almanac" director is expected to direct the new "Power Rangers" for Lionsgate. A huge fan of the franchise, he hopes to "bring a fresh voice to the property."

According to a report from TheWrap, Israelite has been courted for several Hollywood tentpoles since he did the found-footage sci-fi thriller "Project Almanac". He turned them all down, waiting for the right one to come his way.

The new take on the color-coded superheroes is scripted by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz ("Thor", "X-Men: First Class"). Roberto Orci serves as a producer. Filming is expected to begin later this year to meet the July 22, 2016 release.

The feature film is envisioned as a modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world.
