'Logan's Run' to Get Remake With Female Lead
Movie

Warner Brothers has reportedly given 'Logan's Run' a female hero after Ryan Gosling bowed out of the project.

Warner Bros. reportedly plans to revive a classic sci-fi movie called "Logan's Run". The story is set in a dystopian future where people are killed off when they reach a peak age in order to avoid overpopulation and maintain the consumption of very limited natural resources.

Director Nicolas Winding Refn ("Drive") was initially circling the project and actor Ryan Gosling was attached to play the title role, but the two eventually left to pursue other projects. According to Latino-Review, WB has decided to start fresh and rewrite the main character as a female.

Based on a novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, the original movie was released in 1976 with Michael York as the titular character. It spawned a TV spin-off starring Gregory Harrison and airing from 1977 to 1978.
