A major scoop for Spider-Man reboot may have been revealed. According to Latino-Review, Drew Goddard ("The Cabin in the Woods") is considered to write the script and serve behind the lens for the Sony and Marvel collaborative project.

Although it's "very premature" to say that he is tapped for the project, The Wrap reports Goddard is a favorite and he is expected to take the coveted job if it's officially offered to him. He "has not yet met with Marvel but will soon; along with several others," an insider spills without mentioning the names of the other candidates.

There is no report on who will assume the role of the famous wallcrawler, but Latino-Review learns that the reboot will likely be called "Spectacular Spider-Man" after another Marvel comics book series like Sony did with Andrew Garfield-starring "The Amazing Spider-Man".

Rumor has it, Spider- Man will fight Iron Man and then try "to pass the 'audition' to join The Avengers." The Sinister Six is reportedly involved in the upcoming film as well. On top of that, Badass Digest claims the webslinger will pop up in "Doctor Strange".

Drew Goddard was previously attached to pen and direct Sony's "Sinister Six", but the film was benched along with another Spider-Man spinoff, "Venom", following the lukewarm response of "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". The helmer also writes a couple of episodes for Marvel's "Daredevil" series which will premiere April 10 on Netflix.
