CBS isn't giving up yet on stretching its hit series "Criminal Minds" after a not-so-well-received "Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior". It has just been reported that the network has greenlit a new planted spin-off from showrunner of the original series, Erica Messer.

The new spin-off, which will be introduced as a "Criminal Minds" episode to air later this season, will focus on a division of the FBI that helps American citizens encountering trouble abroad.

Messer will write the pilot and team up with "Criminal Minds" executive producer Mark Gordon and Nick Pepper of the Mark Gordon Co. to executive produce the new project. No cast has been announced for the potential new series.

"Criminal Minds", which debuted in 2005, is currently one of the most-watched shows on CBS, averaging a 3.9 rating among adults 18-49 and 14.6 million viewers in its 10th season. The police procedural drama has spawned a spin-off, "Suspect Behavior", which aired in 2011, but it was canceled after only 13 episodes due to low ratings.
