Prince William and Kate Middleton visited the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in lower Manhattan on Tuesday, December 9. In the rainy weather, the royal couple was seen laying a bouquet of white rose at one of the reflecting pools.

Carrying an umbrella, William wore a classic suit paired with polka dots necktie. Kate, meanwhile, donned a bright fuchsia Mulberry coat, black stockings and heels. Her hair was styled in a voluminous pony tail. She completed her look by wearing a pair of black gloves and carrying a small black clutch.

The flowers laid by Kate were accompanied with a handwritten note which read , "In sorrowful memory of those who died on 11th Sep & in admiration of the courage to rebuild."

During their visit, William and Kate met Director of the WTC Construction Steve Plate, Program Director of the Port Authority Glen Guzi and President of the September 11 Memorial and Museum Joe Daniels.

One onlooker told Us Weekly of the royal couple, "Kate and William spent about a minute reflecting in front of the tridents from Tower One as they made their way downstairs to the museum for 20 minutes. The royal couple then walked out of the museum and took in the scenery."
