It's a wide universe for "The Hunger Games". The money-making franchise would be expanding to live stage in 2016, Lionsgate announced on Friday, November 7.

The studio teamed up with Dutch media company Imagine Nation and U.S. based Triangular Entertainment to bring the show to a new, "purpose-built" theater next to London's Wembley Stadium. Producer Robin de Levita said in a press release that the venue would display "innovative and immersive staging techniques" which would be "a fantastic medium to bring the many meaningful layers of Suzanne Collins' writing to life."

De Levita, as the co-founder of Imagine, will be producing along with U.K. promoted Harvey Goldsmith, Triangular Entertainment's Warren Adams, Brandon Victor Dixon of WalkRunFly Productions and entertainment executives Robert Harris and R&R Media's Gary Ricci.

"Robin de Levita and the entire production team are the perfect partners for extending 'The Hunger Games' franchise into a live theatrical experience," Lionsgate Chief Marketing Officer Tim Palen said in a statement. "Their creative genius, combined with world-class production values and state-of-the-art technology will provide a uniquely immersive experience for fans around the world."

The news came two weeks before the latest movie installment, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1", hits U.S. theaters on November 21. The stage show will open less than a year after the fourth and final movie, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2", is released in theaters November 2015.

Back in May, CEO Jon Feltheimer announced "The Hunger Games: The Exhibition", a tour which commences in summer 2015. There are also plans to have a theme park based on the movie and other location-based entertainment opportunities.
