The 36-year-old host reveals that her car's window was shattered by an unknown attacker and her make-up artist was covered in glass while they 'were merging onto the expressway.'

Maria Menounos had an unpleasant run-in with an unknown attacker on Thursday morning, October 16. The E! host explained to Us Weekly at the launch of Ocean Spray PACt cranberry extract water that her car was vandalized while leaving JFK airport.
Maria recalled, "We were merging onto the expressway and all of a sudden we heard an explosion. I thought we were being shot at so I told everyone, 'We're being shot at! Put your heads down!' And everyone put their heads down."
"We waited a second and we didn't hear another shot, so I lifted my head up and turned around, and the whole back window was shattered and gone, not even a stitch of glass was left," she continued.
According to Maria, who was sitting in the front seat at that time, there's a police officer driving behind their car but he seemingly didn't know what had happened. "He told us, 'You have to move,' " Maria said, "And we see this huge tire iron in the back, so either someone ran back and smashed the back of the window and ran and nobody saw [them], or someone was in close proximity and threw it through the back window. Either way, my makeup artist was in the back seat covered in glass."
According to E! Online, Maria and her glam squad ended up driving with a broken window to the city. The former Extra host said she did film the incident on her cell phone but she probably wouldn't share it because there are many "expletives."
Maria, however, took to Instagram and Twitter to share some photos and a video of the aftermath. She posted a photo of her broken window, captioning it, "Omg this just happened. Huge explosion thought we got shot..:now we think someone approached the car in traffic and blew out our window."
Maria also shared a picture of her holding a tire iron which was used by the attacker. "This is what they used!!! This is so crazy!!! We are all freaked out," she wrote. She then posted a video along with the caption, "Crazy morning....@giannetos ended up with glass shattered all over him.someone threw a tire wrench through our window!everyone is ok-thnk for well wishes:) time to go to work!"
The incident was apparently also the first for their driver. "Omg our driver just said I've never had anything like that happen in 10 yrs of driving..even driving snoop! I just died laughing," Maria tweeted.
