While in captivity, Rick and the gang were preparing a surprise attack but the villains knew better.

AceShowbiz - The first our minutes of "The Walking Dead" season 5 were released ahead of its Sunday, October 12 premiere. The new season did not immediately kick off where the last season left, giving a glimpse at the villains' past.

The episode "No Sanctuary" started with a flashback showing Terminus leader Gareth and other men inside a dark place while people scream outside. "We should never have put up the signs," one of the men told Gareth. "What the hell did we think was gonna happen? We brought 'em here." He said, "We were trying to do something good. We were being human beings."

Then it cut to Rick and the gang who were held inside a shipping container and were apparently planning a siege attack once the people of Terminus opened it. However, the bad people knew better and threw tear gas before snatching some of them. Rick and Daryl were among those bound and gagged to be butchered.

Then there was a familiar face. Sam, played by actor Robin Lord Taylor, appeared in early season 4 as the peach-gathering man. He was the first to get a smack on the head.

"I feel like this is our best episode of the show yet," Lauren Cohan told Entertainment Weekly of the premiere. "It took me on such a journey, which is so funny because I was there when we made it and I was still so floored. I felt so much trepidation and then such excitement about the strength of the group. It's been really exciting the levels we can take the show too now. It's been like feature films every time, but this time it's just a bigger and much deeper, darker expensive movie."
