The network has obtained 'Wendy and Peter', a workplace romantic comedy inspired by the famous tale.

AceShowbiz - NBC is bringing yet another work based on "Peter Pan". While prepping the live stage adaptation of the famous tale for a December airing, the network has ordered a modern-day, half-hour comedy loosely based on J.M. Barrie's characters Wendy and Peter.

Titled "Wendy and Peter", the single camera comedy has received a script commitment plus penalty from NBC. The show is also partly inspired by the life of writer/actress Marisa Coughlan, who will executive produce the new project along with Will McCormack and Rashida Jones.

The workplace romantic comedy centers on a woman hoping to find love with a real man, but finds herself falling for Peter, a guy who refuses to fully embrace adulthood. The story is told from Wendy's perspective.

"Marisa is loaded with talent and we are lucky to be working with her," says McCormack. Jones adds, "Her show, which uses the world of Peter Pan as its backdrop, combines pathos, comedy and heart, creating the perfect love story."

While "Wendy and Peter" has just begun shaping up, the live musical production "Peter Pan Live" has cast its main characters with Allison Williams in the title role and Christopher Walken as Captain Hook. Christian Borle plays two roles, Captain Hook's right-hand man Smee and the Darling kids' father, Mr. Darling, while Taylor Louderman and Alanna Saunders will play Wendy Darling and Tiger Lily respectively.
