First Look at Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt in 'By the Sea'
Movie

Jolie and Pitt are a couple who travels to France, settles in a seaside town and mingles with the locals.

AceShowbiz - A month into the production, "By the Sea" is ready to release some pics. The first film reunion between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie since 2005's "Mr and Mrs Smith", the romantic drama sees the real-life spouses as husband and wife who visit a seaside village.

In the images released via Entertainment Weekly, Pitt sports mustache to portray American writer named Roland. Jolie, portraying his former dancer wife named Vanessa, looks troubled while sitting on the edge of the bed. One of the three images features actor Niels Arestrup as cafe owner who is having a conversation with Pitt's Roland over coffee and smoke.

Set in France during the mid-1970s, "By the Sea" sees the couple traveling the country together. They seem to be growing apart, but when they linger in one quiet, seaside town they begin to draw close to some of its more vibrant inhabitants, such as a local bar/cafe-keeper and hotel owner.

"I chose to set 'By the Sea' in the 1970s, not only because it is a colorful and alluring era, but because it removes many of the distractions of contemporary life and allows the focus to remain squarely on the emotions that the characters experience in their journey," Jolie told EW.

Jolie not only stars in the movie but also directs, writes and produces. Universal Pictures has snagged the distribution rights but has not set a release date yet. "I was struck by the fact that she and Brad are willing to bring such a brave endeavor to screen and take audiences on this raw, emotional journey that's simultaneously of its moment and surprisingly timeless," studio chairman Donna Langley said.
