Trailer shows flashbacks on how the affair started and escalated between Noah and Alison.

AceShowbiz - Showtime introduced its new show "The Affair" which will debut this October 19. First trailer of the drama shows the story told from the man and woman's perspectives, using the distinct memory biases of both.

Coming from "In Treatment" creators Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi, "The Affair" explores the emotional effects of an extramarital relationship. Dominic West is a schoolteacher who begins a tryst with Ruth Wilson's character, a waitress recovering from a tragedy. Maura Tierney and Joshua Jackson play their respective spouses.

"I was interested in telling a story in a 'Rashomon' structure; I wanted to structure a story about differences in perspectives," Treem said in an interview with USA Today. "You're never privy to what your lover is thinking even when you're married to them." She added, "We tried not to judge either character. By chance, they're both in very vulnerable places and by chance they meet someone who they come to believe is their true love."

West said about his character, "I'm trying to think if I've ever not played an adulterer. I suppose it gives you an evil edge. I played a lot of villains, so I was delighted to be cast as a hero but as you can see it's in a villain context."
