AceShowbiz - "Enchanted 2" is back on track by securing two writers to pen the script drafted by Jessie Nelson. According to Deadline, J. David Stern and David N. Weiss ("The Smurfs" movies, "Shrek 2", "The Rugrats Movie") are booked to write a follow-up for the 2007 musical fantasy.
The first film follows Princess Gisele (Amy Adams) who is exiled from her fairytale world of Andalasia and ends up in the modern-day New York City. James Marsden plays Edward, her initial Prince Charming, while Patrick Dempsey portrays her true love in the real world of Earth.
Directed by Kevin Lima, the Disney movie which is also supported by Idina Menzel and Susan Sarandon grossed over $340 million worldwide. Anne Fletcher ("The Proposal") is confirmed to sit behind the lens for the sequel.
The main actors are expected to return. "Amy Adams and I are both saying, 'If there's going to be a sequel, we're not getting any younger.' Since we play sort of ageless animated characters. Hopefully we do," Marsden said in 2011. "That was something really special and I'd love to come back and do another."
