AC/DC's guitarist Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to "ill health." The Australian rock band took to their Facebook on Wednesday, April 16 to announce the news and let fans know that their new music would still come.

"After forty years of life dedicated to AC/DC, guitarist and founding member Malcolm Young is taking a break from the band due to ill health," the band wrote. "Malcolm would like to thank the group's diehard legions of fans worldwide for their never-ending love and support."

"In light of this news, AC/DC asks that Malcolm and his family's privacy be respected during this time," they continued and added that the band member's illness wouldn't stop them from working together, saying, "The band will continue to make music." There's still no detail about Young's illness.

Prior to making the announcement, AC/DC's frontman Brian Johnson denied rumors that the band would call it quits due to one member's health condition. In a Wednesday interview with The Telegraph, he said that the group's still looking forward to working on a new album.

"We are definitely getting together in May in Vancouver," he said. "We're going to pick up some guitars, have a plonk, and see if anybody has got any tunes or ideas. If anything happens, we'll record it."

Without mentioning Young's name, Johnson added, "One of the boys has a debilitating illness, but I don't want to say too much about it. He is very proud and private, a wonderful chap. We've been pals for 35 years."
