The 'Fine China' singer's legal team reportedly has contacted a man who allegedly was punched by Brown in Washington D.C. to negotiate a civil settlement.

AceShowbiz - Chris Brown's legal team reportedly is working on a civil settlement with a man whom he allegedly punched in Washington D.C. last year. According to TMZ, his lawyer Mark Geragos met the man's lawyer to negotiate a deal which involves a large sum of money.

If the man agrees with the settlement, he will then tell the prosecutors that he no longer wishes to pursue the case. Sources told the site that Geragos might have sealed the deal. The process will finish by the end of this week. Prosecutors reportedly are aware of the negotiation.

Brown's legal trouble started in 2009 when he abused Rihanna and was sentenced to probation. He was told to avoid problems during the probation, but he had a run-in with the law after a man named Parker Adams claimed the singer punched him outside a hotel in October. Brown will spend 4 years in jail if convicted, but he apparently can be released next week if Adams drops his lawsuit.

Brown is currently in jail until his upcoming trial date. He was released from his rehab stint earlier this month for disobeying rules. He reportedly made harsh comments during group session, refusing drug test following supervised visitation and "rubbing elbows" with a woman.
