J.J. Abrams teases "Star Wars Episode 7" with a first picture from behind the scenes posted on the Twitter page of his Bad Robot production company. The director is seen posing with familiar droid R2-D2 and a couple of crew. "Hi from the workshop! #StarWarsVII," the caption reads.

R2-D2 is an astromech droid which appeared in all six "Star Wars" films along with his protocol droid companion, C-3PO. R2-D2 inducted into Robot Hall of Fame in 2003 was portrayed by Kenny Baker in the previous movies, while his robot buddy was played by Anthony Daniels.

The first installment of Abrams' three-part films is slated to hit theaters across the U.S. on December 18, 2015, just in time for Christmas holiday season. Filming is scheduled to begin spring 2014 at Pinewood Studios outside London. Casting to look for the lead roles is still underway.

The first open audition kicked off in Bristol, U.K. It was scheduled to begin at 11 A.M. but many hopefuls got turned away as the queue was already closed by 9 A.M. Online audition was initially not an option, but now it's opened due to the overwhelming response.

Applicants are advised to submit their videos on Cast It Talent's website before December 3.
