The Avengers are coming to Japan. Marvel has announced a new animated television series that is created for Japanese audience only. Walt Disney Company (Japan) Ltd. and Toei Animation Co., Ltd. will produce "Marvel Disk Wars: The Avengers" set to arrive in spring 2014 in Japan.

Targeting boys in the 6-12 age group, the show will feature the superhero team, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and the Hulk with the addition of Spider-Man, teaming up with a group of teens to harness their respective fighting skills and superhuman powers to foil Loki's scheme to take over the world.

According to the official synopsis, several superheroes and some villains are trapped in "a new technology originally developed as portable security devices for capturing and securing villains around the world."

A range of merchandise, which "is sure to breathe new life into the boys market in Japan," will also be created based on the series. Taito-ku, Tokyo-based Bandai Co., Ltd., will be responsible for character merchandising.
