Disney Channel has axed a character on "Girl Meets World". Teo Halm, who was cast as Cory and Topanga's eldest son Elliot, revealed that his character had been cut from the upcoming series.

"So guys, Disney decided that it wouldn't work to have an older brother on the show; I won't be on Girl Meets World," the 13-year-old actor tweeted on Saturday, October 5. "Thank you to everyone."

Danielle Fishel, who will reprise her "Boy Meets World" role as Topanga, responded to the news with a tweet which read, Teo, you are an incredible talent and I adore you. You may still call me 'mom.' " Halm tweeted back, "That means so much to me. Thanks 'mom.' "

A representative from Disney Channel later confirmed Halm's departure. "Various creative changes are often made as a project transitions from pilot to series," the rep told TVLine.

"Girl Meets World" initially would feature Cory and Topanga with their three children. Elliot was the eldest, followed by Riley (Rowan Blanchard), the titular "Girl", and the youngest who is a boy named Louis (August Maturo).

The show is set in New York City in the same vein as its predecessor. Only this time, the focus will shift from Cory and Topanga to their young daughter Riley Matthews. Along with her best friend, the tween will navigate through middle school under her parents' watchful eyes.

The follow-up to the 1990s TV series is expected to premiere sometime in 2014.
