Paget Brewster will help "Criminal Minds" celebrate its milestone. She is set to return to the show for its 200th episode, which will air later this season, CBS has officially announced.

"Our 200th episode is going to be a special show," executive producer Erica Messer says in a press release. "We can't imagine telling this story without Paget being present."

The 200th episode offers glimpses into the past that shed light on what happened to JJ (A.J. Cook) during her year away from the BAU and prove valuable in the team's efforts to solve a present day case. She was working at the State Department with new BAU section chief Matt Cruz, who will be portrayed by Esai Morales.

"[Episode] 200 is flashback-heavy, but with things fans who've watched all 199 will be happy with," Messer previously told TV Guide. "Our goal is to reward everyone who's been with us for 200 episodes."

Brewster exited the long-running police procedural series at the end of season 7, after 6 years on the show. Prior to that, she briefly departed the show following a status reduction, but she was rehired along with Cook, who had been reduced to recurring in season 6, for season 7.
