The Irish band's canceled shows were scheduled to take place at the Leeds Academy on Tuesday, August 29 and Blackpool's Illuminations on Friday, August 30.

AceShowbiz - The Script has canceled their two upcoming shows in the U.K. due to a family member's "serious illness." The scrapped shows were supposed to take place at the Leeds Academy on Tuesday, August 29 and Blackpool's Illuminations on Friday, August 30.

"It is with deepest regret that The Script have had to cancel both their Leeds Academy [29th Aug] & Blackpool Illuminations [30th Aug] shows due to a sudden serious family illness," the band confirmed the cancellations. "The band deeply regret having to cancel at such short notice."

Natalie Wyatt, a spokeswoman for Blackpool Illumination, has spoken out about the Irish band's decision to prioritize their family over the scheduled performances.

"We are deeply saddened that The Script have been forced to cancel their Blackpool Illuminations gig but we totally understand and appreciate that personal family matters take priority and our thoughts are with the band and their families at this time," Wyatt said.

The two axed shows won't be rescheduled and the band has asked fans to get their tickets refunded at "the point of purchase."
