Tara Reid is not cut from "Sharknado 2" just yet. After it was reported that the actress would not be asked back for the upcoming film, Syfy stops the rumor from spreading even wilder by telling The Huffington Post that no official casting decisions have been made for the sequel project.

TMZ previously reported that Reid was not included in the producers' cast wish-list for "Sharknado 2". So-called sources connected to the production told the site that Ian Ziering was the only actor the producers wanted to return to the follow-up for the social media hit.

In "Sharknado", Reid played Ziering's on-screen estranged wife. Both stars had expressed interest in reprising their roles for the sequel even before Syfy greenlit the follow-up movie. "Why not?" the "American Reunion" actress said. "[The movie] was so ridiculous, you know? Like it's almost so bad that it's good ... I'm just so glad that people saw the humor in it that I did. It's just hilarious."

Syfy executive vp programming and original movies Thomas Vitale later stated in an official announcement, "Every once in a while, there is a perfect storm -- on television. The fans are clamoring for a sequel. Or perhaps it will be a prequel. What we can guarantee is that 'Sharknado 2' will be lots of fun."
