New bassist Kim Shattuck, who is also a former founder of the Muffs, is set to join the Boston rock band for a worldwide tour that will begin in Paris next September.

AceShowbiz - It doesn't take Pixies too long to find someone to replace Kim Deal following her departure from the band last month. The Black Francis-fronted band announced that former founding member of The Muffs Kim Shattuck would play bass and serve as backing vocalist on the band's upcoming gigs.

"Please welcome Kim Shattuck. Kim will be playing bass guitar/backing vocals on the upcoming tour announced today," the band announced on their official website on Monday, July 1. "You may know Kim from L.A. band The Muffs and previously from The Pandoras. We are delighted that she will be joining us on stage."

Shattuck will take the stage with Pixies for the first time when the band kicks off their world tour in Paris, France on September 29. Francis promised fans that there would be new songs and some surprises onstage during their world tour.

"Along with everyone's favourites, we'll be playing songs that we haven't played in ages or never played live before," Francis recently said. "We've probably rehearsed some 80 songs, so we'll be able to change up the set at the last minute if we feel like it. We're all really looking forward to this tour."

Last Friday, Pixies released "Bagboy", the band's first song in nearly a decade.
