The season 3 back order and the fourth season pickup will make the Melissa Joan Hart-starring series ABC Family's first comedy to reach 100 episodes.

AceShowbiz - Gearing up for its third season premiere, "Melissa & Joey" has just got a greenlight to return for a fourth season. ABC Family has given an early renewal to the sitcom starring Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence, ordering a 20-episode fourth season for the show.

Additionally, the cable network has expanded the upcoming third season. Initially ordered for 16 episodes, it now gets additional 20 episodes to bring it to a total of 36 episodes. This will make the show the first ever ABC Family's comedy to reach 100 episodes.

"One-hundred episodes is a great accomplishment for any series, and we are thrilled to give 'Melissa & Joey' the opportunity to achieve this milestone," Kate Juergens, executive vp programming and development at ABC Family, says of the renewal and season 3 back order, "as they've delivered hundreds and hundreds of laughs over the seasons."

"Melissa & Joey" will kick off its third season Wednesday, May 29 at 8 P.M. on ABC Family. The show follows Mel (Hart), a former wild child of a political family who is now a local politician herself, who hires Joe (Lawrence) as she raises her teenaged niece Lennox and pre-adolescent nephew Ryder.

The second season outperformed the first season, showing ratings increase in several key demos, including adults 18-49, women 18-34 and total viewers 12-34.
