Zooey Deschanel has received a formal apology after being mistakenly identified as one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects during FOX's coverage of the incident. On Tuesday, April 23, Kala J. Patterson, president of Caption Solutions which is based in Lawrence, Kansas, said in a statement that they "deeply regret" the mistake and "sincerely apologize for this error."

Last week, FOX network affiliate KDFW in Dallas-Fort Worth ran a caption which falsely named her as the Boston Marathon bomber during its coverage of the manhunt for the real suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. The caption read, "Marathon Bomber. He is 19-year-old Zooey Deschanel."

Learning the blunder, the "New Girl" actress took to Twitter to react, "Whoa! Epic closed captioning FAIL!" Peter Ogburn, a radio show producer and writer, who also noticed the error tweeted, "Oh come on, Fox."

College student Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, one of the Boston Marathon bombing suspects, was arrested on April 19 after he was holed up inside a boat in a Watertown neighborhood. The other suspect, Dzhokhar's brother Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was gunned down in a police shootout in Watertown after he killed a cop at Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus.
