Syfy has unleashed the first official teaser for its new series "Helix". The sneak-peek video, which is dominated with white, doesn't share the actual footage from the show but hints at the plot with a tagline which reads, "A team of scientist working in secret are about to change the world or end it."

The video opens with a shot of snowy landscape before showing a scientist sitting in an all-white room. Toward the end of it, something suspicious is coming out from the scientist's head and running down his cheek.

Executive produced by "Battlestar Galactica" creator Ronald D. Moore along with "Lost" co-executive producer Steven Maeda, Lynda Obst ("Contact") and Cameron Porsandeh, the dark sci-fi thriller follows a team of scientists from the Centers for Disease Control.

When they travel to a high-tech research facility in the Arctic to investigate a possible disease outbreak, they quickly find themselves pulled into a terrifying life-and-death struggle that holds the key to mankind's salvation or total annihilation.

No cast is announced for the drama series, which has got 13-episode order from Syfy. The show is expected to premiere later this year.
