LiLo locked herself in a closet to avoid filming a four-way sex scene, but eventually agreed to shoot the racy scene after director Paul Schrader stripped off to comfort her.

AceShowbiz - Apparently, rumors about Lindsay Lohan's antics on the set of "The Canyons" were true despite the fact that her rep denied those reports. In a lengthy profile on The New York Times, veteran writer Stephen Rodrick gave an in-depth description on how LiLo caused drama while filming the Bret Easton Ellis-written sexual thriller.
Rodrick stated that the troubled actress was hired and fired before being re-hired again for the movie, which also stars porn star James Deen. He also described how the actress made the production feel like a nightmare. It all began when director Paul Schrader insisted to cast Lohan though people around him, including his daughter, were against the idea.
At first, LiLo was already informed that the film would be very low-budget and she would be paid $100 a day while also receiving an equal share of the profits. Schrader also told her that there would be no trailer on the set and that she's contractually-obligated to shoot a four-way sex scene. The director also made sure that he "wouldn't try to sleep" with the actress.
Despite the agreement, trouble still happened when LiLo started to become a no-show on the set. She didn't show up during the first read-through and got fired after that, but was eventually re-hired after the actress tracked Schrader down to his hotel room. Crying, LiLo explained to the director that she missed the read-through because she got wired until 3 A.M. and took a sleeping pill.
The drama didn't stop there as the "Freaky Friday" star reportedly caused another trouble when she refused to film the four-way sex scene because she felt uncomfortable. She told Schrader, "Sorry, Paul, I guess you'll have to fire me again." It was said that the actress locked herself in a walk-in closet with her friend to avoid shooting the scene.
After an hour of non-compliance, Schrader finally decided to strip down himself to make LiLo feel comfortable. The trick surprisingly worked for the actress. "Lohan dropped her robe. Schrader shouted action, and they filmed the scene in one 14-minute take," described N.Y. Times. "About halfway through, Lohan looked directly into the camery and flashed a dirty, demented smile at Schrader."
Commenting on her crazy behavior on the "Canyons" set, LiLo herself told Rodrick, "I needed time to figure out all the crap in my life that I'd created for myself, essentially, and I kind of realized, What am I doing? I like doing this. I like being here." She went, "This makes me happy. There was a line in the 'Elizabeth' movie where she says, 'I'm so bored, I've never been taught what to do when I'm not working,' and I'm kind of figuring that out now."
Asked if she planned to take a break after finishing "Canyons", LiLo replied, "I don't want to take a while off, I want to keep working." She shared, "There's some other scripts, and I eventually want to direct, so maybe when I'm not filming, I can be directing something because I learned so much from the people that I worked with."
