A solemn Prince William and Kate Middleton joined Queen Elizabeth and her husband Prince Philip to pay respect to Britain's war dead on Remembrance Sunday. The Duke of Cambridge donned his RAF uniform, while the Duchess wore a coat decorated with poppy-style jewelry.

William laid a wreath of red poppies at the Cenotaph in Whitehall, London, after the Queen and her husband placed theirs to remember the country's fallen soldiers who died in the World Wars and other conflicts. Kate stood in a balcony and watched alongside his aunt, Sophie, Countess of Wessex.

Also spotted commemorating sacrifices of the armed forces were Prince Andrew, Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, Prime Minister David Cameron and Mayor of London Boris Johnson among others. Prince Harry was absent from the event for he is currently serving on a military tour in Afghanistan.

The country was also having a veteran parade and a two-minute silence to remember those heroes.
