Michael Lohan says he originally wanted Dr. Drew to help him talk to LiLo so that she agreed to check into rehab but the doctor refused.

The intervention staged by Michael Lohan to get Lindsay Lohan to enter rehab was initially planned to involve Dr. Drew, but the "Celebrity Rehab" host declined the offer. The doctor believed his presence would only freak the actress out.

Michael told TMZ Dr. Drew advised that he brought someone who was less intimidating to help him with the intervention mission. The father then approached someone who had a connection to LiLo's lawyer Dave Feldman.

With or without Dr. Drew, the intervention attempt failed though. Michael was asked to leave and cops were called to LiLo's house on trespassing complaint. He insisted that he got her entire team's blessing to force her to seek help for drug abuse and alcohol addiction.

His former wife, Dina Lohan, countered him by saying the intervention was his desperate attempt to make himself relevant again in the public eye. She said, "This sole act by my ex was not an intervention nor was this extreme antic sanctioned by any member of Lindsay's family or her professional team of handlers."
