Michael Clarke Duncan was remembered in a public memorial on Sunday morning, September 9. His fans and friends alike gathered at the Hall of Liberty of Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks and Mortuaries in Hollywood Hills to pay their final respect to the late actor.

According to NBC, the memorial included a slide show, speeches from his close friends, and a screening of his 1999 critically-acclaimed movie "The Green Mile" where he was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at Academy Awards and Golden Globes.

Duncan's casket stayed closed during the four-hour memorial. The public event would be followed by private services Monday at the same place. His fiancee, reality TV star Omarosa Manigault, is expected to attend it along with a number of Hollywood stars.

Duncan passed away at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on Monday, September 3. He "never fully recovered" from the heart attack he suffered on July 13. The Coroner Office confirmed he died of natural causes. He was 54.
