The Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker will also produce the new series titled 'Inside Man', which is slated to premiere in 2013.

AceShowbiz - CNN has hired Morgan Spurlock to take the lead of its new series. The star and director of documentary film "Super Size Me" will host and produce the new original series on the network, "Inside Man".

On the show, the Oscar nominee will go deep into "rarely-seen sectors of American life that include gun lovers, marijuana growers, migrant farm workers, and end-of-life caregivers." The non-fiction program is set to debut April 2013 and air alongside Anthony Bourdain's new food and travel series.

"Morgan Spurlock's name has become synonymous with creative and thought-provoking documentary story-telling," says CNN Worldwide executive vice president and managing editor, Mark Whitaker. "Like Anthony Bourdain's new CNN series, 'Inside Man' will carry the distinctive stamp of its host while taking viewers on colorful and informative journeys into fascinating corners of American society."

The project will mark Spurlock's return to TV after FX canceled his series "30 Days" in 2008. He launched half-hour documentary series "A Day in the Life" via Hulu in 2011, and recently had his film "Mansome" premiered at Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
