Seventeen outtakes from the band's last album will be released digitally and on vinyl, two songs at a time with the exception of an 8-minute song.

Red Hot Chili Peppers are about to unveil some new music in the form of singles which will be released starting next month. Frontman Anthony Kiedis and friends plan to make the singles available with two songs each as digital downloads and as seven-inch vinyl pressings.
Drummer Chad Smith explains to Billboard that the band "just wanted them to come out because we just really like them. We didn't want them to get lost, so we're gonna put them out, mainly for our fans." He goes on to say that fans "would've waited for the Warner Bros. box set in, like, 2020, if there's even a record company around then."
Guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, who joined RHCP in 2009, reveals to Rolling Stone that there's an 8-minute track that will be released on its own. "We're going to have to do that old trick where it fades out and fades back in on the B-side," he says when talking about the vinyl copies of the song which is unofficially titled, "In Love, Dying".
So far only three release dates have been announced, "Strange Man" / "Long Progression" on August 14, "Magpies" / "Victorian Machinery" on September 11, and "Never Is a Long Time" / "Love of Your Life" on October 2. The dates for the other releases are still being determined and there is no word yet with regards to the singles being packaged together.
The singles are unreleased songs from recording sessions of the band's tenth studio album "I'm With You" which was released August 30, 2011 in the United States.
