HBO has returned the tenth episode of the show's season 1 to digital platforms after editing the controversial scene that featured the former U.S. President's head on spike.

AceShowbiz - HBO has edited out the decapitated head of George W. Bush on "Game of Thrones". After drawing controversy with the scene, the network has replaced the head on spike with a face which is as nondescript as possible.

The cable channel has also restored the tenth episode of season 1, in which the controversial scene was featured, to its digital platforms. HBO previously pulled the episode from its streaming service and halted the season 1 DVD shipments, soon after the issue made headlines.

When revealing that it's indeed a fake head of Bush which was put on spike, creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss explained, "It's not a choice, it's not a political statement. We just had to use whatever head we had around." They later apologized for it, stating, "We meant no disrespect to the former President."

HBO, meanwhile, said, "We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste." Calling it an "inadvertent careless mistake," the network was also "sorry this happened."
