"The Walking Dead" has introduced Michonne in its second season finale, but it's not until now that the face of the samurai-wielding heroine is uncovered. Entertainment Weekly gets it hand on the first photo of the new character as portrayed by Danai Gurira.

Creator Robert Kirkman says that on the TV series, "the essence of the character - her personality, her motives, everything that makes Michonne Michonne - remains intact from the comics." He, however, adds, "...like a lot of things on the show, there will be little tweaks and differences here and there."

"We saw that her introduction is slightly different from how it was in the comic," the comic book writer further explains, "and her interaction with Andrea is really going to be a really cool addition to the character that I think will get television viewers up to speed, and they'll get to know her a lot faster than comic book readers did."

As for the new setting in season 3, Kirkman gushes, "It looks absolutely amazing. They are shooting the hell out of this prison. It just looks absolutely stunning... It's really creepy, really moody and it's just gonna be really awesome."

The new season of "Walking Dead" is expected to premiere this fall. Beside Michonne, the show will feature The Governor in the next chapter, with David Morrissey tackling the role.
