Sad news came from The Monkees camp. Former teen idol and the frontman of the popular '60s band, Davy Jones, has died of a heart attack in Florida on Wednesday, February 29 morning.

The news was confirmed to medical examiner's office in Martin County, Florida by TMZ. The office received the message from Martin Memorial Hospital and relayed it to the website. Jones, who was 66 at the time of his death, leaves behind his wife Jessica and four daughters from his past marriages.

Jones and his bandmates Micky Dolenz, Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork were the popular boy band of the '60s as they delivered hits like "I'm a Believer", "Daydream Believer" and "Last Train to Clarksville". Jones only took the stage on February 18 at BB King's blues club in New York and the next day at a gig in Oklahoma.
