In '1912', Cassidy Freeman will guest star as female vampire Sage who has ties to the Originals as well as to Damon.

Another girl from Damon's past will show up in present time when "The Vampire Diaries" returns with a new episode after a three-week hiatus. When Stefan mentions Sage to Damon, she appears in a flashback scene as a woman who beats a man in a boxing ring.
Sage will be portrayed by former "Smallville" actress Cassidy Freeman. The character is described as a "ballsy and sexy and dynamic and fun" vampire with ties to the Originals as well as to Damon. It appears that she and the older Salvatore had a good time together a hundred years ago.
Gushing about her character, Freeman said, "She [is] really aware of what being a vampire is and owns it." As for why Sage resurfaces in modern-day Mystic Falls, she teased, "She comes back for good reasons, but she is [out] for herself."
"1912", which will present a backstory between the characters during the year, will air on Thursday, March 15 at 8/7c on The CW.
