AceShowbiz - A contestant of "Big Brother Brasil" has allegedly been caught on camera raping another housemate. In a scene aired on the Brazilian version of "Big Brother", Daniel Echaniz lied next to Monique Amin, who passed out after getting drunk in a house party, and appeared to have sex with her under the covers.
After the seven-minute footage created a buzz, Brazilian police announced on Tuesday, January 17 that they have begun investigating the case. "The young woman denies she was raped and has not pressed charges," Rio de Janeiro police spokeswoman Edileide Macedo said of the alleged victim, 23-year-old Amin. "We continue to investigate the case because it is a public matter."
31-year-old Echaniz, who is a male model, has since been booted off "Big Brother Brasil" for "gravely inadequate" behavior. TV channel Globo, which airs the reality show, has also removed the footage showing the alleged sexual assault from its website.
In a report published on the O Globo newspaper, Echaniz's mother was quoted as saying that her son is a "victim of racism." She argued, "There have already been (such incidents on the show) and they didn't have such consequences."
