Being a successful freshman, "The Voice" lands a coveted post-Super Bowl spot next year. NBC has announced that an hour-long episode of the reality show will air Sunday, February 5, 2012 following the network's telecast of Super Bowl XLVI.

"There is no better showcase on television than to follow the Super Bowl, and we believe 'The Voice' is deserving of such high-profile exposure," chairman of NBC Entertainment Bob Greenblatt said in a statement on Tuesday, May 31. "The attention grabbing blind audition phase of 'The Voice' has mass appeal and will fittingly team up with the biggest sporting event of the year."

It has not been determined, however, whether the episode will be the season 2 premiere or the show will return for a new season prior to that.

"The Voice" debuted in April and will end the first season at the end of June. It has become the 2010-2011 season's highest-rated new series in the key adults 18-49 demographic, averaging a 5.4 rating and 12 million viewers.
