Investigated 'Teen Mom' Went Into Couple Counseling
TV

Amber Portwood's dad is upset that MTV didn't use a 'better judgment' by airing the assault incident which actually happened months ago.

While the police looked through for possible domestic abuse on "Teen Mom", Amber Portwood's father gave an interview that clarifies the air. In a recent episode of the reality show, Amber was caught beating the father of her child when she was upset of him. An anonymous e-mail was sent to Anderson Police Department to look at the matter closely.

Amber's father Shawn Portwood said everything is well now between Amber and Gary Shirley who became parents to Leah while there were teens. "It's my understanding they're doing just fine," Shawn told Radar Online. "They're going to couples counseling. ...You know, this happened months ago ...and things have changed a lot since then and they're doing something about it, especially after that."

Shawn added that the counseling was done in a few months since the incident was filmed, not aired. The dad is also surprised that MTV has chosen to air that part for the whole world to judge. He said, "It surprised me that it was even on TV and it was shown on TV. I don't even think it should've been shown on TV, to be honest with you. I think that MTV should've used better judgment, that's all I've got to say."

Department of Child Protective Services in the Portwoods' hometown are investigating the incident but Shawn is adamant that Leah is perfectly fine under the young couple's custody. "...Of course they have to check into it. It's they're job. But, I mean, like I said she's taken care of, they're good parents, they really are."
