24 contestants who survive the Hollywood week on "American Idol" this season include judges' favorite Andrew Garcia. He was pitted against Thaddeus Johnson in the last spot for the 12 guys. Ellen DeGeneres said that Thaddeus was great but unfortunately not great enough to advance to the next round.

In the first half of the show, the judges had given admittance tickets to Tim Urban, Janell Wheeler, Tyler Grady and Lacey Brown. The latest one made it to the Top 50 in season 8 but she was cut in the Top 36 when the judges picked Meagan Joy over her. In the next few minutes, the judges passed along the good news to Joe Munoz, Ashley Rodriguez, and Alex Lambert.

Crystal Bowersox, a mother of one who amazed the audience in the first Hollywood round with her rendition of "Natural Woman", is in the Top 24 and so is 17-year-old Katie Stevens. After a montage of people who are sent home, Lilly Scott took the long walk to sit before the judges and hear her fate. She went through for her knack in "jazzy stylings".

The next few people who also made it are Paige Miles, Siobhan Magnus, Michelle Delamore, Jermaine Sellers, and John Park. There was only one spot left in the girls group when Haeley Vaughn and Tori Kelley awaited the decision. The former won the last spot for girls.
