Director Tim Burton hints the filming of 'Dark Shadows' will begin in 2010 after admitting he will focus on the horror movie after he's finished with his current project, 'Alice in Wonderland'.

AceShowbiz - Director Tim Burton has hinted that that he will kick off the principal photography for "Dark Shadows" in 2010. To MTV News, he admitted as soon as he has finished with his current project, the Johnny Depp-starring 3-D feature "Alice in Wonderland", he will begin working on the horror movie in which Depp is also set to star.

"That's something that [Depp and I] both love and are excited about," Burton gushed when asked about "Dark Shadows". He furthermore confirmed Depp's earlier remark that the filming of the movie will start sometime in 2010 as saying, "When I'm done with this I'll definitely focus on that." The current film project he is referring to in that case is "Alice in Wonderland".

Beside revealing when the shooting may begin, Burton also explained about his excitement in doing the Warner Bros.' gothic-tale movie project during the interview. "It's another challenge because it was such a weird soap opera," he said. "Part of the energy of it was the tone and weirdness of it. That's our challenge, to try to capture that vibe." The vibe was explained to be "part campy melodrama, part dead serious-and decidedly odd-storytelling."

When asked about which direction he plans on going, he answered, "It's always a fine line. That remains to be seen. That's a question and a challenge we talk about a lot. I haven't arrived at the answer. That's definitely a main issue, the tone and the vibe of it because as we all know melodrama can cross over. It's one of the more interesting things about it."

"Dark Shadows" is a Warner Bros. Pictures' film based on popular TV series of the same title. It's a gothic-horror tale which centers on the life of vampire Barnabas Collins and his run-ins with various monsters, witches, werewolves and ghosts. Produced by Johnny Depp, Graham King and David Kennedy, the film is planned to be released in 2010.
